
Until year 2006, only two other similar events took place in Spain. The “Lanzarote Spanish Film Screenings” that in 2005 celebrated its fifth and last edition and the “Market Screenings” that during the past eight years runs within the Malaga Spanish Film Festival.
Once more, the idea of celebrating the “Spanish Film Screenings” in Madrid enabled a huge number of producers, sales agents, international and local media, as well as, local authorities and representatives from a series of institutions, to attend the event.
Past edition of “Madrid de Cine” accounts for 138 buyers from 33 countries, 56 screenings at the Princesa Cinemas, 150 screenings at the video library, near 20 European journalists and a large number of rights acquisition deals as well as a series of negotiations currently in progress.
Second edition counted also with the attendance for the first time of buyers from the Czech Republic, Croatia or Venezuela, showing a 30% overall increase in number of buyers attending the event in comparison to first year edition.
The most watched films were: “XXY”, “La crisis carnívora”, “El club de los suicidas”, “Madrigal” and “La carta esférica”. And at the Video Library: “La caja”, “Pudor” and “Bajo las estrellas”.
International press invited showed great interest in: “AzulOscuroCasi Negro”, “El menor de los Males” and “Vete de mí”. According to “Time Out”, “these days have meant for us a fantastic immersion on Spanish Cinema.
